Hamamatsu Kite Festival

May 4, 2016 - People fight with kites at the Hamamatsu Festival in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. Teams build their own kites, measuring up to 3.5 by 3.5 meters, and then attempt to bring down the other teams' kites by flying them close together and using friction to burn the hemp kite strings. The festival, which celebrates new births, takes place May 3-5 and coincides with Children's Day. (Photo by Ben Weller/AFLO) (JAPAN) [UHU] Ben Weller is a photographer based in Nagoya, Japan.
